Highlights of project

The most important people and events:

President Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act
Fidel Castro
Nelson Mandela
NASA
Birth Control Pills
Bilingual Education
Polio Vaccine
Alcatraz
Martin Luther King received the Nobel Peace Prize
Disneyland
First Children’s book in school ( The Cat in a Hat)
Creation of the National Organization for Women (NOW)

The worst:

Nelson Mandela was thrown in Jail
Segregation in schools (later ended)
Polio vaccine was contaminated by simian virus


What we found interesting:

1. We found it interesting to learn a lot about history . We were able to learn a lot of things that we didn’t know before. By working together in a team we could discover different interesting parts of the events and people of these years.

2. We found a man who spent his whole life in jail. Then
he became President in his Country. His name is Nelson Mandela.

3. Today there is freedom for everybody in U. S because of civil rights. Everybody can vote.
